The Voice's Jeffrey Austin Debuts on the Christian Chart with "O Holy Night"
The Voice's Jeffery Austin makes a debut this week on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart with his rendition of the hymn "O Holy Night." The song makes a grand entrance at #6 on the Christian chart. Team Gwen chose the Christmas classic "O Holy Night" for Austin's finale Top 4 holiday-themed performance.
Though Austin didn't win the competition, he is grateful for the support of his fans: "I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that has supported me along the way. I couldn't have made it as far as I did without you fighting for me every week. From one chair to the finale, I couldn't have been more lucky to have you all the way there. Thanks again for the greatest experience of my life, and I'm so excited to officially get to work in a career I've always dreamed of having."
After Jeffery Austin's father passed away when he was nine years old, Austin grew up with his mom, grandparents and brother. During that time, Austin pursued music in high school and auditioned for all the school musicals. At 16, with the support of his family, Jeffery Austin came out after years of trying to hide his sexuality. Despite wanting to study music in college, his mom preferred that he take a more stable course. Austin majored in communications with an emphasis in advertising. He now works at a public relations firm in New York, but is still itching to do music full-time.
