New Movie "Colors of Chracter" Which Tells the Story of Redemption is in Theaters Now
Today, the powerful true story of Steve Skipper will arrive in theaters through the feature-length documentary COLORS OF CHARACTER: An Artist's Journey to Redemption. In a partnership between Collide Distribution and Iconic Events, the film will release nationally as a limited release from November 11 through 15. Theaters and screening times are available at ColorsOfCharacterMovie.com.
After the theatrical run, churches and organizations can act as the theater and bring the film to their communities through the Faith Content Network.
Early praises the film include:
"COLORS OF CHARACTER has a strong Christian, biblical worldview with powerful examples of redemption and trusting wholly on God." - Movieguide
Colors of Character is a remarkable, quality documentary. - dove.org
"...an incredible story about the faith of renowned sports artist Steve Skipper." - Film Threat
As one of the most prolific painters in the genres of sports and civil rights artwork, Skipper has shattered barriers of race in the fine art world. With no formal training, Skipper has honed his unique, meticulous style of super-realism and has his work on display in some of the most prestigious galleries, sports and civil rights museums, and halls of fame in the US.
Most would be surprised to hear the backstory of Skipper's extraordinary life. As a young child, he was bussed to a newly integrated school in Birmingham, AL where he became a leader in a notorious street gang. After going to church on a dare, Skipper had a life-changing encounter with Christ that transformed his entire life. Shortly after, he picked up a paintbrush and quickly understood his God-given calling as an artist. Skipper turned down a football scholarship to hone his craft, a meticulous style of super-realism, and fearlessly saying "yes" to projects and contracts that were far beyond his qualifications. Skipper's is a story of a man who trusted God's calling on his life and found success beyond his wildest dreams.
COLORS OF CHARACTER not only shares Skipper's life in his own words but also features interviews with key figures in Steve's life, from ministers to sports figures to Civil Rights icons. Film director Chris Danielson shares the heart of the film: "Steve's story is a reminder that we can never wander so far away that God's love cannot reach us. It's also a reminder that when God gives us a calling, it's our responsibility to steward those gifts and be faithful to the opportunities given to us."
COLORS OF CHARACTER: An Artist's Journey to Redemption will be shown in theaters across the country as a limited engagement beginning November 11, 2020. http://colorsofcharactermovie.com/
