1980s Pop Star Glenn Medeiros Named Catholic School President

Glenn Medeiros

80s and 90s pop crooner Glenn Medeiros has been appointed President of St. Louis School, a Catholic School for all boys in Honolulu Oahu.  He will start his new job July 1 according to the St. Louis School board of trustees. Medeiros is best known for his hit single, "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for You," which was released in 1987.

In 1988, he recorded the single "Un Roman d'amitié" (Friend You Give Me a Reason), a duet in French with Elsa Lunghini. He also achieved a 1990 United States #1 hit duet with Bobby Brown titled "She Ain't Worth It". The same track peaked at #12 in the UK chart. He had another hit duet with Ray Parker, Jr. titled "All I'm Missing Is You" which peaked at US #32.

In 1989, Glenn recorded "Under Any Moon" with The Jets, which was included on the soundtrack of The Karate Kid, Part III. Medeiros' relationship with the British media somewhat soured in 1990 when he was seemingly ridiculed on the music review program Juke Box Jury. A panel consisting of footballer Jon Fashanu, singer Neneh Cherry and comedians Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, overseen by Jools Holland, slated the video of "All I'm Missing Is You".

Unbeknownst to the guest reviewers at the time, Medeiros was present and live in the studio, watching their commentary. Emerging afterwards as that weeks "special guest", all parties were visibly embarrassed, with Medeiros exiting the set swiftly. This moment was later included in both Channel 4's "TV Hell" program.

Less commonly known is that Medeiros has a bachelor's degree in history and humanities from the University of Hawaii's West Oahu campus, a master's degree in education from University of Phoenix and a doctorate degree in education from the University of Southern California.

The school board said it selected Medeiros after an extensive search, Honolulu news station KHON-TV reported. He's currently vice principal at Maryknoll High School in Honolulu.

"I am humbled for the opportunity to work with the excellent staff and faculty of St. Louis School as we strive to educate students in the Marianist philosophy, while developing them to be outstanding young men in the community," he said.
