Doug Hershey's 'Israel Rising,' Tops Multiple Amazon Bestseller Charts, Coinciding with Israel's 70th Anniversary

Doug Hershey

Israel Rising, the captivating new book by author Doug Hershey, is proving to be a major hit with readers, claiming the Number 1 spot on four separate Amazon Bestseller charts this week, including the online behemoth'sIsrael & Palestine History chart, History of Judaism chart, General Israel Travel Guides chart, and Christian Books & Bibles: Prophecies chart. The chart-topping sales numbers coincide with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the nation of Israel's rebirth, which begins on Thursday, April 19, 2018.

The book transports the reader back in time 2,600 years to uncover an ancient mystery and celebrate Israel's miraculous journey from prophecy to the present. It chronicles Israel'stremendous growth from a barren wasteland on its inauguration day to its current status as a garden in the desert.

Hershey notes that while the official inauguration day was May 14,1948 on the Gregorian calendar, the anniversary of this date, known as Yom Ha'atzmaut in Hebrew (Israel Independence Day), floats on the Jewish calendar every year, much like Thanksgiving floats on the Gregorian calendar every year. This year Yom Ha'atzmaut began in the evening of Wednesday, April 18 and ends in the evening of Thursday, April 19.

"One of the most fascinating prophecies in all of Scripture is found in Ezekiel 36, in which God tells the prophet to prophesy not to the people, but to the physical land of Israel," says the author.

"They will say, 'This land that was laid waste has become like the garden of Eden; the cities that were lying in ruins, desolate and destroyed, are now fortified and inhabited.'" (Ezekiel 36:35).

"Once, and not too long ago, the land that is now the nation of Israel was a desolate, brown, barren wasteland," continues Hershey. "But today, due to new Israeli desert farming technology, this land is bursting forth with bold, beautiful orchards, small productive farms and vast greenhouses that export hundreds of millions of flowering plants to the U.S. and Europe. We are thrilled to have been able to chronicle these events, foretold by the ancient prophet, through historical quotes and photographic evidence, that have taken place before our very eyes."

The gorgeously illustrated four-color gift book includes more than 175 photos from photojournalist Elise Monique Theriault that compare 100 year-old pictures of the Holy Land to current pictures taken from the same angle, revealing the miraculous changes in this region since the rebirth of Israel.
"Biblical prophecies are coming to pass in the land of Israel right now in literal and tangible ways!"explains Hershey. "But Israel Rising is much more than a then/now photo book--it offers visual evidence that the Bible is true, and that God is faithful to His word, down to the last detail!"

"Few books, if any, chronicle the prophetic rebirth of the modern state of Israel like Doug Hershey's Israel Rising: Ancient Prophecy/Modern Lens," adds Chris Mitchell, CBN News Middle East Bureau Chief, Jerusalem. "As Israel celebrates its 70th anniversary, Israel Rising provides stunning before-and-after pictures of the transformation of Israel as the words of the prophet Ezekiel come alive."
Israel Rising starts at the beginning, giving readers a look at exactly what Ezekiel prophesied, exploring the historical accounts from Jewish, Christian, and Muslim eyewitnesses of what the physical land and region has experienced and endured. The book also features photos from the 1880s-1940s juxtaposed against new photos of the same locations, allowing readers to experience first-hand the transformation of Israel over the years. The book has already caught the attention of numerous national media organizations.
