iPhone 6 Chip: Apple To Equip The iPhone 6 With The Powerful 2Ghz Dual Core A8 Chip
The new iPhone 6 is expected to have a new chip that will be lightning quick, the 2GHz dual core A8 chip. The new processor is a big leap from its predecessor the iPhone 5s derisory CPU. This information gives insight to the new chip that will be used in the new iPhone 6.
Sources say that the new chip will be faster than the one found in the current iPhone models though it will still sport two cores rather than four which has been the normal type in the industry.
The A8 chip is expected to have click frequency of 2.0 GHz or more for each core and it will be built using new 20 nanometer process. This is very different from the iPhone 5s and the rest of the iPad's models which have the 28 nanometer A7 chip that clocks at 1.3 GHz. The new processor offer smaller transistors that help make it smaller, requiring less energy.
The new A8 chip is still based on the dual-core system that is similar to the A7 chip. Its clocking is higher than the iPhone 5s at 2GHz which is a jump on its predecessors 1.3GHz processor. The iPhone 6 CPU on the other hand is likely to be smaller than the 28nm A7 chip. It is expected to measure up to just 20nm. This doesn't come as a surprise as it seems Apple has been trying to slim its device down in every way possible.
Taiwan's Business Weekly reported this week that the first consignment of iPhone 6 shipment is expected to contain at least 68 million units or twice the number of initial order that was used on the iPhone 5. It is not clear though whether the estimate takes into account both the 4.7 and 5.5 inch iPhone 6 versions or just one of them.
