Author Richard Pearson On the Place of America, 9/11 and COVID-19 in Bible Prophecy

Author Richard Pearson has just released his new book The Hour That Changes Everything, which is now available at Amazon.com and ProphecyUSA.org. The book helps us understand our current events and how it relates to the future. Pearson believes that the Bible does speak to our times of unrest, political upheaval, pandemics, and general uncertainty.  We can stop looking because the answers can be found in the writings of the ancient prophets.  

Q: Richard, thanks for doing this interview with us. When and how did you become interested in bible prophecy?

Thank you for having me! It's my pleasure and an honor to join you.

In answer to your question, in 1986, at the age of 32, I had what theologians refer to as a theophany. It was like a burning bush or road to Damascus experience, which Moses and Paul had. However in my case, it was very similar to what the four major prophets (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel and Ezekiel) experienced in receiving their prophecies.

My theophany was a revelation concerning the future and purpose of the USA in Bible prophecy. I was told of things to come which, frankly, left me overwhelmed. After 35 years of research, study, multiple mission trips and some very sobering experiences in spiritual warfare, I crossed paths with a very learned and godly TV producer, Rod Hembree. We were touring Israel at the time when, out of the blue, Rod approached me and told me that God told him he needed to put me on TV! God (and Rod) "opened the door" for the TV Show, Prophecy USA and Ezekiel 3:18-21 led me to write, THE HOUR that changes everything (Book and Study Guide). I am convinced my book properly interprets everything the four major prophets forth told concerning the USA from a Biblical perspective.

Q: What do you have to say to people who say that the Bible does not give us specific details of what will happen in the future?

To those who say the Bible does not speak to future events, I would suggest they read the Bible with a desire to know the truth. God's word tells us He wishes us to know the future, "Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets" (Amos 3:7). We are not told everything because then we would not have to operate in faith, which is the only thing that "Pleases God" (Heb 11:6). As Moses told us in his writings, "The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law" (Deut 29:29).

Q: Your new book is entitled "The Hour That Changes Everything." What does "this hour" refer to?

THE HOUR refers to a cataclysmic hour in history where God judges a mystery nation called Babylon the Great. The prophets tell us it will take ONE HOUR in one day for this nation to be burned with fire (Rev 14:7, 18:8,10,17,19, Isa 47:9-14). At the same time the destruction takes place, so too will His supernatural exit plan, called the rapture. Both events occur within that ONE HOUR event (Rev 3:8-10). Paul refers to it in 1Thessalonians 4:15-16, and 1 Corinthians 15:51.

Q: What is the role of America in God's redemptive plan?

The Prophets gave us fifty-three descriptions of the nation called Babylon the Great. The USA meets every description. There are a total of eight providential nations in Scripture (Rev 17:10). Six of those nations have come and gone. The seventh nation (Babylon the Great) must be deposed before the eighth and final kingdom (a one-world government) is given power to reign over the earth. The deposing of the seventh nation perfectly describes a pre-emptive nuclear attack. However, before she is deposed, Babylon the Great will fall away from her origins of being "One Nation Under God". The populace (except for a remnant of believers within her) will reject her Judaeo-Christian heritage and follow after the "wisdom and knowledge that hath perverted thee" (Isa 47:10).

Q: What role does the COVID-19 pandemic play in the unfolding of God's plan for Christ's return?

I look at 9/11 and Covid-19 as warning signs to America and to the whole world, as to what is coming during the time of the eighth and final kingdom. It will be a dictatorship and people will totally lose their freedom to a one-world totalitarian government. At the same time there will be horrendous environmental plagues, most of which are the direct result of nuclear fallout coming from America. Jesus described this seven-year period as, "then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be "(Mat 24:21).

Q: How does your new book help believers (as well as non-believers) prepare for Christ's coming?

The book is supported with numerous Scriptures pointing to verses that each person should study for themselves (2 Tim 2:15). We should never base our theology on someone else's vision, theophany or prophecy. Each of us need to base our theology on the word of God.

When you study God's word it is just like God speaking directly to you. Our book will help unveil the verses (possibly never shown to you) and allow the Holy Spirit to fulfill His work in your personal life. "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak and he will shew you things to come" (John 16:13). Jesus promised us, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me" (John 10:27).
