The Grammy-winning artist, 42, recently made light of her touring status while appearing alongside American Idol co-judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, jokingly exclaiming "No, nah!" when asked if she would be touring this year.
Behind the humor lies a heartfelt reason. Underwood and her husband of 16 years, former NHL star Mike Fisher, are choosing to prioritize family, with more time at home alongside their two young sons. According to Star Magazine, Carrie has felt physically and emotionally drained after years of nonstop work and long stretches away from her family. Sources close to the couple say this year is about "recharging and reassessing what matters most."
While Underwood isn't calling it a retirement, her selective performance schedule reflects a slower pace. She's still slated for a few special shows, including appearances in Oklahoma, Nashville, Montana, and Massachusetts.
