Rather than presenting the hymn softly, Profitt leaned into the weight of its lyrics.
"There are some incredible lyric lines in this hymn that I think get overlooked," Profitt shares. "Lines like 'to rid my soul of one dark blot' are actually really intense and powerful. It carries weight. I realized this song needed to feel a little meaner. There's confidence in saying, 'I come just as I am.' That's a bold declaration."
As the arrangement builds with rock-gospel intensity, Reddick's vocal delivery brings both vulnerability and strength, creating a moment that feels both personal and theatrical.
