Public speculation surrounding the faith of late conservative activist Charlie Kirk has prompted a direct response from Lucas Miles, who is firmly rejecting online claims that Kirk was in the process of converting to Roman Catholicism prior to his death.
Miles, senior director of faith initiatives for Turning Point USA and lead pastor of Nfluence Church, publicly addressed the rumors after they gained traction across social media platforms. In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Miles stated that claims Kirk was formally preparing to enter the Roman Catholic Church are "factually incorrect."
According to Miles, Kirk was not enrolled in the OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) process, nor was he taking formal steps toward conversion. Miles indicated he had spoken directly with Kirk's wife and others close to the family to clarify the matter.
The speculation appears to have stemmed from reported conversations Kirk had with Catholic leaders and expressions of appreciation for aspects of Catholic thought and tradition. However, Miles emphasized that respectful dialogue or theological curiosity should not be conflated with formal ecclesiastical transition.
The clarification comes amid heightened public interest in Kirk's legacy. As co-founder of Turning Point USA, Kirk was a prominent voice in conservative political and cultural discourse. Following his sudden death, tributes poured in from political leaders, pastors, and commentators nationwide.
Miles' statement seeks to bring clarity to what he described as mischaracterizations of Kirk's faith journey, urging media outlets and online commentators to rely on verified information rather than speculation.
Further developments will be reported as additional official statements become available.
