On Mother's Day, Celine Dion posted a quiet but deeply moving tribute to her late mother - and for anyone who has followed her story, it hits differently this year.

"Maman," she wrote on Instagram. "Your strength, your tenderness, and your love has shaped who I am. You remain with me...quietly guiding, and so deeply felt in my life and in the lives of your grandchildren."

"Today, and always, we honor you." - Celine Dion

Thérèse Tanguay Dion - known across Quebec simply as "Maman Dion" - passed away in January 2020 at age 92. She was the mother of 14 children and the woman who first recognized Celine's gift, co-writing her daughter's very first song at age 12 and sending a cassette tape to manager René Angélil - a moment that changed music history.

The post comes at a remarkable moment for Dion. After years battling stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that robbed her of muscle control and nearly silenced her voice, she announced in March 2026 - on her 58th birthday - that she will return to the stage for 10 shows in Paris beginning September 2026. Nine million fans entered a lottery for early ticket access. All dates sold out within hours.

She fought back from the darkest season of her career without her mother physically beside her. And yet, as she wrote Sunday: "You remain with me."

For a woman of deep faith who has lost her husband, her brother, and her mother - and still chose to get back up - Celine Dion is a testimony that love, and the people who pour it into us, never truly leave. Paris awaits in September. Maman would be proud.
