Luke Bryan turned the American Idol Season 24 grand finale into a major career moment by officially announcing his brand-new album Signs, set for release on September 18, while also delivering multiple performances throughout the three-hour live event.
The longtime Idol judge revealed that fans can now pre-order exclusive American Idol-edition CDs and collectible gold vinyl versions of the album, instantly generating excitement among country music fans and viewers watching live.
Bryan also debuted his new song "Fish Hunt Golf Drink" during the finale, performing the track live shortly after announcing the album. The upbeat country anthem was written by Bryan alongside Chase McGill and Matt Dragstrem and produced by Jeff Stevens and Jody Stevens.
But that was only part of Bryan's busy night on the American Idol stage.
During the finale, Bryan also teamed up with contestant Julián Kalel for a duet performance of A Thousand Miles from Nowhere, one of the evening's most talked-about collaborations. The performance later drew attention online after Bryan humorously acknowledged making a small live-TV mistake during the number, later joking, "That was on me!" after briefly missing a cue.
In addition, Bryan joined fellow judges Carrie Underwood and Lionel Richie for a special judges' performance of Richie's classic country-influenced song Deep River Woman.
The finale itself became one of the biggest musical television events of the year, featuring appearances from artists including Alicia Keys, Lee Ann Womack, Brad Paisley, Clay Aiken, Jason Mraz, Nelly, and Mötley Crüe.
As for the new album itself, Bryan has described Signs as one of his most personal and reflective projects yet. According to recent statements, the 12-track record will combine themes of heartbreak, healing, hometown life, memories, loss, and celebration. Bryan said the album represents "a little bit of everything that shaped me."
"This record is a little bit of everything that shaped me," Bryan explained in the album trailer. "It's heartbreak and healing, backroads and barstools... the woods, the fields, the people."
The album will include previously released songs such as "Word On The Street," "Country And She Knows It," and the newly performed "Fish Hunt Golf Drink."
The release also marks another major chapter for Bryan, who has now served as an American Idol judge since 2018 while simultaneously remaining one of country music's biggest touring artists. In addition to Signs, Bryan is preparing for his "Word On The Street Tour," festival appearances, Farm Tour dates, and upcoming stadium shows
