The album is out. The chapter is closed. Now the question the whole CHH community is sitting with: what does Hulvey do next?
COULD BE TONIGHT, his farewell album with Reach Records, dropped April 17 to widespread praise. The 20-track project - surprise-released with a pay-what-you-want option, in keeping with its theme about the unexpected return of Christ - turned out to be one of the most spiritually raw records in Christian hip-hop this year.
But now that the dust has settled, Hulvey himself has been refreshingly honest about what comes after: he doesn't fully know yet.
"In the next couple of months, I will be releasing my last album with Reach Records," he wrote in his original announcement. "My contract is up, and I'm seeking the Lord on what move is next for my career and ministry."
What we do know is that he's not disappearing. A 33-city North American tour with indie tribe and Kijan Boone is already on the horizon. His single "Altar" crossed 150 million streams in 2025 and earned RIAA Gold certification. And COULD BE TONIGHT - the most transparent work of his career - has opened conversations far outside the Christian rap world.
In a recent interview with Relevant Magazine, Hulvey put it plainly: "I came in looking to be led. And now I feel like I'm actually ready to lead."
The Relevant piece also offered a rare glimpse into his mindset as he steps into independence: "The old one is finished. And he seems clear-eyed about the only way forward: Say what needs to be said, make the music hit, and stop confusing safety with wisdom."
Hulvey signed with Reach Records in 2019 at 19 years old. He's leaving at 27 - with a wife, two sons, a Dove Award, and a clearer sense of calling than ever before.
Whatever comes next, it sounds like he's building it on the right foundation.
