According to reports from The Christian Post, the historic gathering drew believers from across the United States and around the world despite rain, long security lines, and intense heat. Worshippers filled the National Mall with prayer, worship music, Scripture readings, and calls for revival as the U.S. Capitol stood in the background.
Rededicate 250 forms part of the broader Freedom 250 initiative, a public-private movement commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026. Organizers framed the gathering not merely as a patriotic celebration, but as a spiritual call for the nation to return to God through humility, repentance, and unity.
The event featured appearances from a wide range of influential political, religious, and cultural figures. President Donald Trump participated through a prerecorded message, while Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth were also connected to the gathering.
Prominent Christian leaders and personalities participating in the event included evangelist Franklin Graham, pastor Robert Jeffress, preacher Samuel Rodriguez, actress and "The Chosen" star Jonathan Roumie, television personality Sadie Robertson Huff, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Bishop Robert Barron, and Jewish scholar Rabbi Meir Soloveichik.
Contemporary Christian worship leader Chris Tomlin headlined portions of the worship gathering, leading thousands in songs of praise and prayer throughout the day. Tomlin later shared on social media that he was deeply moved after learning why organizers specifically selected May 17 for the event.
According to Tomlin, the date commemorates May 17, 1776, when the Continental Congress issued a resolution calling Americans to prayer and fasting during the uncertainty surrounding the Revolutionary War. Event organizers repeatedly highlighted the historical connection throughout the gathering, encouraging attendees to reflect on America's spiritual heritage.

Parish Clinton, a U.S. military veteran from Mississippi, told The Christian Post that Rededicate 250 may be "the most important event" of his lifetime, stressing his belief that America has drifted away from biblical values and desperately needs spiritual renewal.
Another attendee, Cindy Herzog of Kentucky, described the gathering as "a shift in history," expressing hope that the event would spark revival across the nation and encourage Christians to stand boldly in faith during uncertain times.
Unlike many political rallies in Washington, organizers repeatedly emphasized unity, prayer, and worship over partisan division. Speakers throughout the day called on Americans to seek God for healing, wisdom, revival, and moral restoration as the country approaches its semiquincentennial anniversary in 2026.
