Phil Wickham walks into Nashville this Sunday as the most nominated artist at the 2026 K-LOVE Fan Awards - and the man who has somehow never won one.

Four nominations. Artist of the Year. Male Artist of the Year. Song of the Year. Worship Song of the Year. It is the most complete ballot an artist can carry into a single night at the Grand Ole Opry House. And yet heading into the 13th annual fan-voted ceremony on May 24, Wickham's only K-LOVE Fan Award sits in the Book Impact category from 2023 - for his devotional On Our Knees.

The music has never been the question. "What An Awesome God," his reimagination of Rich Mullins' beloved classic, spent 16 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Airplay chart - a record-setting run that turned into one of the defining worship moments of the past year. His follow-up, "Homesick For Heaven," hit the top of the charts almost immediately after. Both songs appear on Song of the Saints, the album fueling his first-ever solo arena tour alongside Tauren Wells and Jamie MacDonald.

For context on what Rich Mullins means to the Christian music world - his original "Awesome God" has been sung in churches for nearly four decades. Wickham didn't sample it. He brought it forward for a generation that may have never heard it, and the response was immediate and overwhelming. That kind of song doesn't just chart. It gets passed around in group chats and sung at youth camps and played at funerals. It travels.

And still, no K-LOVE Fan Award. Not yet.

This is the tension that makes Sunday interesting. Brandon Lake swept four trophies last year and remains one of the most beloved figures in Christian music. Lauren Daigle, who is co-hosting the show this year, is nominated for Artist of the Year for the third time and has never lost her connection to this audience. Jeremy Camp has never won a K-LOVE Fan Award despite more than a decade of nominations - and his blazing rock No. 1 "No Survivors" has given him his best shot yet.

But this is Wickham's most dominant year on record. Four nominations built on two chart-topping songs, a sold-out arena run, and an album rooted entirely in the conviction that worship is the most important thing a person can do with their time.

Voting closes Friday, May 22 at 6 PM Central. The show airs on TBN on May 29 at 7:30 PM ET.

If Sunday is finally Phil Wickham's night, it will have been a long time coming - and completely deserved.
