Dan + Shay Are Joining Brandon Lake for Cowboy Church at CMA Fest and the Call That Made It Happen

Brandon Lake wanted church at CMA Fest. So he picked up the phone and called the boys.

In a video posted today to his Facebook page - already racking up 74,000 views in hours - Lake revealed that Dan + Shay will join him for Cowboy Church at CMA Fest on Sunday, June 7. The moment was captured live on a FaceTime call: Lake pitching the idea, Dan and Shay saying yes before he finished the sentence.

"Let's freaking go, dude. Let's go. Come on, we're in," the duo responded without hesitation.

Lake announced Cowboy Church earlier this spring, describing it as a Sunday morning gathering at the Chevy Riverfront Stage on June 7 at 9:30 AM - and being clear about who it is for. "Not the kind of church with suits and pews," he wrote. "The kind for the wanderers, the worn-out, the misfits, the ones who aren't sure they belong anywhere. If that's you - you're welcome here. Come as you are." 

The event is free and open to the public.

The Dan + Shay announcement adds a layer that no one saw coming. In the video, Lake teased that the three of them recently performed a new song together - and the response, according to both sides of the FaceTime, was something special. "The response has been insane," Dan told Lake on the call. "Getting to see your show - we were out there just fanboying."

Lake closed the call with a line that sets the tone for the whole morning: "Bring your cowboy hat. Bring your boots. We're going to Cowboy Church."

More special guest announcements are still coming, according to Lake's post. Whoever else shows up, the Sunday morning of CMA Fest just became the must-attend moment of the entire festival weekend.

Dan + Shay are no strangers to the intersection of country and faith - their song "When I Pray For You" was recorded for the soundtrack of faith-based film The Shack and debuted at number three on the Billboard Christian Songs chart. Cowboy Church is exactly where they belong.
