Latto Welcomes Baby Girl and Teams Up With Jelly Roll on the Most Emotional Track of Her Career

Atlanta rapper Latto dropped her fourth studio album Big Mama on May 29 via Streamcut and RCA Records - and it came with the announcement fans had been waiting for.

On "Mama," a genre-blending collaboration with Jelly Roll, Latto reveals the gender of her child, rapping: "Now you look just like your daddy, but you got my curls / Can't believe my life right now, I feel on top of the world / Should've seen my face when they told me it's a baby girl." 

Latto first announced her pregnancy on March 20 in the music video for "Business & Personal (Intro)," where 21 Savage's hand rested on her baby bump as she rapped, "Car seat, got a kid on the way." 

The 17-track album features Doja Cat, 21 Savage, GloRilla, Sexyy Red, Teyana Taylor, Wizkid, and Mariah the Scientist - but "Mama" is the one stopping people mid-scroll. The track is a touching tribute to both Latto and Jelly Roll's respective mothers, made all the more moving by the fact that Latto had just become a mother herself. 

Jelly Roll, who has been open about how faith shaped his redemption story, responded to the feature saying: "Honored is an understatement - so proud to be on this record."
