Award-winning Christian singer-songwriter Matthew West is celebrating a new season of ministry while reflecting on the blessings and challenges of family life, prayer, and trusting God's grace.

Speaking with Z88.3 FM during the recent Christian Music Broadcasters convention in Orlando, West shared updates on his family, his latest devotional book, and the spiritual lessons God continues to teach him.

One of the proudest moments in West's life currently involves his youngest daughter, Delaney, who is preparing for a three-week missions trip to Uganda.

"She's headed off to Africa for a three-week missions trip," West said. "My youngest daughter just has a real heart for missions." He explained that Delaney regularly volunteers with an inner-city ministry in Nashville and has developed a passion for serving others. As any parent would, West admitted he feels nervous about her traveling overseas, but he is equally grateful to see her desire to share God's love with others.

West also spoke warmly about his oldest daughter, Lulu, who recently joined him on the Winter Jam tour, singing alongside him each night during performances of his song "Good With Me."

While hearing his daughter's voice on stage was a special experience, West said the moment became a spiritual reminder of God's love.

"As much as this earthly father loves hearing his daughter's voice, how much more does our Heavenly Father love to hear our voices?" he reflected.

Beyond music, West continues to expand his ministry through writing. He recently released his eighth book, a 40-day devotional titled Don't Stop Praying.

The book emerged from a deeply personal realization.

"I looked at my life and thought, I think I've maybe gotten better at talking about Jesus than talking to Him," West admitted.

The confession became the driving force behind the devotional, which encourages readers to deepen their prayer lives and reconnect with God through daily conversation. West believes prayer remains the most important dialogue believers will ever have.

"It's the most important conversation we're going to have today - with the Author of our story," he said.

Throughout the interview, West repeatedly emphasized God's accessibility and faithfulness. Drawing from James 4:8, he reminded listeners that God eagerly responds when His children seek Him.

"The moment you lean in, the moment you whisper a word from the quiet of your heart, God, the Author of your story, is leaning in to hear from you and to answer you and to be with you," West said.

As the conversation concluded, West offered a message of encouragement to families and listeners navigating the pressures of everyday life.

"So many times the enemy wants us to think that we've got to do enough good stuff to earn the gift of God's love and grace," he said. "But I want to remind you today that you are not loved because you're good enough. You're loved because He's just that good."

West encouraged believers to rest in God's goodness, remembering that His love is not based on performance but on His unchanging character.

"He loves you on your best day, and He loves you no less on your worst day," West said.

For a songwriter known for turning everyday stories into powerful spiritual truths, the message remains consistent: God's grace is greater than our failures, prayer remains our lifeline, and His love never has to be earned.
