When North Carolina baseball coach Scott Forbes walked into the biggest game of his season, he came prepared - not just with a game plan, but with Scripture.

Before UNC's dramatic Super Regional victory over USC that punched the Tar Heels' ticket to the 2026 College World Series in Omaha, Forbes had written a Bible verse on his coaching card. The gesture was quiet, personal, and entirely consistent with who he is. After the game, he made no attempt to hide where the credit belonged.

"Everything I do - just make sure I do it like I'm supposed to do it through my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ," Forbes said. "I'm thankful He gave me the opportunity to be here."

For Forbes, those words are not a postgame formality. They reflect a pattern he has maintained throughout his time as head coach - openly making faith in Christ central to the way he leads, competes, and defines success. It is not something he compartmentalizes. It is the foundation.

The College World Series appearance is Forbes' second trip to Omaha in three years, and he reached it while also recording his 250th career win at UNC - doing so in just six seasons. He has led the Tar Heels to an NCAA Tournament appearance in every season of his tenure, the only coach in program history to accomplish that feat.

The 2026 College World Series field includes North Carolina, West Virginia, Troy, Ole Miss, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, and Oklahoma. The Tar Heels open against Ole Miss on Friday at 7 p.m. ET. UNC enters Omaha as the odds-on favorite to win it all.

"What I explain to the guys - this is a unique business trip," Forbes said. "Because a lot of times on business trips, you may not exactly love where you're going to be. But we're going to love where we are in Omaha, Nebraska."

North Carolina is chasing its first national championship in program history. But for the man leading the charge, the greatest foundation behind the journey is not baseball alone - it is faithfulness to Jesus Christ. The JubileeCast community is cheering the Tar Heels on, and praying that whatever happens in Omaha, Coach Forbes continues to lead the way he always has - with his Lord and Savior front and center.
