Simone Biles is not ready to tell the full story yet - and that is okay. What she has shared is enough to know she is healing, loved, and held.
When a fan asked her directly about her near-death experience in the comments of a recent Instagram post, Biles responded simply: "Not ready to talk about it just yet."
That quiet response on Sunday came weeks after she first broke the silence about what happened. On June 6, Biles wrote on Instagram: "I'm not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today's age, but almost dying wasn't on my bingo card this week. This was one of, if not the, scariest experience of my life, especially since Jonathan was in Indy for practices."
Owens was not with her during the health scare because he was going through offseason workouts with the Indianapolis Colts, having signed a one-year deal with the team earlier this year.
But he got to her as soon as he could - and the two wasted no time choosing each other.
On June 13, just days after Biles confirmed she was recovering at home, the couple jetted off together for what she called a "baecation," posting glimpses of their getaway on Instagram - a photo of their luggage, a teal ocean horizon, and a dinner selfie of the two of them close together.
Owens has not publicly addressed her medical emergency, but the couple's bond has clearly only grown stronger through the ordeal. He once told Texas Monthly that the hardest seasons are what built them: "It was one of the few times in her life where everything was just shut off and she couldn't do anything. We used it to get to know each other - really get to know each other. It created our bond and made it stronger."
Simone Biles has spoken openly about her Catholic faith as the anchor that carries her through life's most frightening moments. Right now, she is resting, recovering, and not yet ready to explain. And for those who have prayed for her - that picture of the two of them together on that baecation is already its own answer.
