The music world is mourning the heartbreaking loss of singer Lauren Bennett, whose powerful vocals helped make LMFAO's global smash "Party Rock Anthem" one of the biggest songs of the 2010s. Bennett has died at the age of 37, prompting an emotional outpouring of tributes from friends, fans, and her former G.R.L. bandmates.
The devastating news was confirmed Monday through G.R.L.'s official Instagram account, where surviving members Paula van Oppen, Natasha Slayton, and Emmalyn Estrada shared a heartfelt statement honoring their friend and former bandmate.
"It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Lauren," they wrote. "Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us. We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us. Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved."
The trio concluded their tribute by adding, "Rest peacefully, sweet Lauren. You will always be in our hearts."
No cause of death has been announced.
Bennett first rose to prominence as a member of the Paradiso Girls, the pop group created by Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin. Although the group was short-lived, Bennett continued building her career, collaborating with major artists including CeeLo Green and will.i.am before landing the career-defining feature on LMFAO's chart-topping anthem "Party Rock Anthem." The song became a worldwide phenomenon and spent six consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2011.
She later joined the girl group G.R.L., which debuted in 2013 with "Vacation" from The Smurfs 2 soundtrack before releasing hits including "Wild Wild Love" with Pitbull. The group appeared poised for mainstream success before tragedy struck in 2014 when member Simone Battle died at age 25. G.R.L. ultimately disbanded the following year.
Bennett's passing marks another heartbreaking chapter for the group, making her the second G.R.L. member to die. Fans across social media have been remembering her infectious energy, unmistakable voice, and contributions to some of the decade's biggest pop hits.
As tributes continue to pour in, Lauren Bennett is being remembered not only for helping soundtrack an era of pop music but also for the warmth and kindness her friends say she brought to everyone around her. Her legacy will live on through the music that introduced her to millions around the world.
