The mystery surrounding Pastor Greg Locke's dramatic federal raid is taking another stunning turn.
New claims from a former church insider suggest that the pre-dawn search of Locke's Tennessee home wasn't a random operation but part of a long-running federal investigation into allegations that church funds were misused. According to reports, the probe involves both the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Attorney's Office, although no criminal charges have been announced.
Locke stunned his congregation earlier this month by revealing that roughly 60 federal agents searched his home and media company while he was on sabbatical mourning the death of his 20-year-old son, Evan, who died from a drug overdose in May. He insisted his family has "nothing to hide" and suggested the investigation stemmed from years of criticism by online opponents and former associates.
But former online ministry pastor Justin Greenwell, who resigned from Global Vision Bible Church in late 2025, paints a very different picture.
Greenwell claims he and his wife were interviewed multiple times by IRS investigators and says they were told the investigation had already been underway for more than a year before they publicly raised concerns about the church's finances.
The controversy stretches back to disputes over a multimillion-dollar church property purchase, donor requests for financial transparency, and accusations that church money was being improperly managed. Locke has repeatedly denied wrongdoing, insisting that church finances are legitimate and rejecting allegations that donations funded his personal lifestyle.
Greenwell, however, alleges there was virtually no financial oversight, claiming only Locke and his wife had access to donation records and that key financial decisions were made without board meetings or documented approval. These are allegations that Locke has not accepted.
Meanwhile, federal authorities remain tight-lipped. The Wilson County Sheriff's Office confirmed the IRS participated in the raid and noted that the U.S. Attorney's Office has an active investigation, but officials have declined to discuss details while the matter remains ongoing.
For now, the investigation continues, and until prosecutors announce any charges, the allegations remain unproven. But with former insiders speaking out and federal agencies remaining actively involved, the spotlight on one of America's most controversial pastors isn't fading anytime soon.
