Influencer Nara Smith has good news to share after weeks of an outpouring of support. Her 2-year-old daughter, Whimsy Lou, is officially in remission, Smith announced in an emotional video posted to Instagram on July 17 - just over two weeks after she first revealed Whimsy's cancer diagnosis.
Smith, 24, said she and her husband, model Lucky Blue Smith, had been quietly processing the diagnosis and treatment for eight months before deciding to go public. "We wanted to wait until she was done with treatment and us knowing what the outcome of her situation would be before sharing it," she explained. "Now that she's finally in remission, it felt like I could find the words to share."
She thanked followers directly for their "kind messages, prayers, support," saying it meant more than words could express during one of the hardest seasons of her family's life.
Smith said the experience opened her eyes to how costly cancer treatment can be for families, and she has since shared several GoFundMe links on her Instagram stories to support other parents facing similar battles. She said she hopes to continue researching childhood cancer charities in the months ahead.
The Smiths, who also share children Rumble Honey, Slim Easy, and Fawnie Golden, said they're now working to find a new normal. "I don't know whether life will ever feel normal again, but we're trying to navigate this next chapter the best that we can," Smith said.
