Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are being praised for a $2 million donation to Answer The Call, the New York Police and Fire Widows' & Children's Benefit Fund, which supports families of NYC police officers, firefighters, port authority officers, and EMS personnel killed in the line of duty.
The gift was part of more than $26 million the newlyweds donated to charities around their July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden, including organizations in Kansas City tied to Kelce's football career. Answer The Call shared the news in an Instagram post, thanking the couple directly. "Taylor and Travis, thank you for your incredible generosity and for standing with the families of fallen New York City first responders," the organization wrote, adding that the gift would provide lifelong support to more than 500 families connected to the charity.
The donation struck an especially personal chord for families who lost loved ones on 9/11. Mary Farino, whose husband, FDNY Battalion Chief Thomas J. Farino, died in the September 11 attacks, shared how deeply the gesture landed ahead of this year's anniversary. She recalled her children finding comfort in Swift's music and Kelce's games growing up without their father, calling the donation a meaningful way to honor a cause her family holds close.
Other family members responded with similarly heartfelt gratitude. Valerie Perry, another Answer The Call recipient, wrote through tears, "Prayers for your future together, and God bless both of you for your generosity and your caring souls for doing something so amazing."
The $2 million gift adds to a wedding season that, despite drawing some criticism over the scale of the Madison Square Garden ceremony and its impact on the city, has also spotlighted Swift and Kelce's broader charitable giving - support that, for the families receiving it, carries weight far beyond the dollar amount.
