Avengers 2 Latest News: Avengers 2 Release Set for Labor Day weekend, Hulk and Iron Man face off

Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios have set the Avengers 2: Age of Ultron release date to May 1, 2015 in 2D and in IMAX 3D, just in time for the Labor Day weekend.

At the San Diego Comic-Con, Robert Downey, who plays Tony Stark/Iron Man, revealed that there will be an epic face-off between his character and Hulk.

Downey hinted, "It can't just be a good fight, it's gotta be about something."

And instead of looking to the Age of Ultron comic book for story inspiration, writer and director Josh Whedon created his own material for Avengers 2: Age of Ultron.

"With the first 'Avengers,' everybody pretty much had the power to punch somebody. And now we have a woman who can get inside your head and move objects, a boy who can move faster than anything, and a robot who can replicate and is out of his mind. So all of a sudden, it's a darker, weirder, tougher world that they're living in," Whedon said in an interview.

Apart from leading the "Avengers" franchise, Whedon best known as the brains behind the hit series "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer."

The movie's all-star cast includes Chris Hemsworth  as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

The team will be fighting a new set of Avengers 2 villains: Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.
