The city of Twin Falls, Idaho, came together for a candlelight vigil this week to honor the victims of Saturday's mass shooting at a local In-N-Out Burger, offering a moment of shared grief and prayer just days after the tragedy.
The vigil was held at Twin Falls City Park, open to the entire community as residents continue processing the attack that left three people dead and seven others injured. A growing memorial of flowers and candles has also formed outside the In-N-Out location itself in the days since.
Among those remembered was 23-year-old Ashley Garibay, an In-N-Out manager from Stockton, California, who was training new employees at the newly opened Twin Falls store when the shooting began. Her family described her in a statement as "an amazing, beautiful soul who loved living life," adding that she "lit up a room with her bright smile and a laugh that was contagious." Also killed was 59-year-old Christopher Claunch. A GoFundMe organized by Garibay's family has raised more than $36,000 to help cover funeral costs.
Authorities have said the gunman, 24-year-old Chad Williams, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after being confronted by an armed off-duty state trooper and a private citizen, actions police credit with preventing further loss of life. Investigators say they believe Williams acted alone, though a motive remains under investigation.
Twin Falls officials publicly called for prayer in the shooting's immediate aftermath, and In-N-Out president Lynsi Snyder said the company would be "mourning with the families and praying for them as they tread through a very painful season." This week's vigil carried that same spirit into the community itself, as neighbors, first responders, and grieving families stood side by side in a shared act of remembrance and hope.
