As the AGT Season 21 finale approaches, 16-year-old rocker Nene Royal is emerging as the clear favorite to take home the $1 million prize.
The Thai teen, whose real name is Rattikarn "Praew" Amloy, left her hometown of Phuket this week for Los Angeles, joined by her family and bandmates from Ozone. Speaking to fans at a hometown concert before her departure, Royal said she's been rehearsing daily from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in preparation.
"I am 100% ready," she said. "I have been working hard every day... towards my ultimate goal, to be a world-class artist with a chance for world tours."
Royal earned her spot in the finale after Mel B awarded her a Live Golden Buzzer for her Quarterfinals performance of Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun," following an earlier standout audition covering The Cranberries' "Zombie." Prediction markets currently have her favored at better than 70% to win the season outright.
"The champion depends on the voting results," Royal told fans. "Cheer me and vote for me too."
The two-part finale airs Tuesday, September 22, and Wednesday, September 23, with the winner decided entirely by public vote.
