Perez Hilton's family has spoken out after the celebrity blogger was hospitalized following a deeply concerning livestream that prompted an emergency response and an outpouring of support from fans around the world.
In a statement released Wednesday, Hilton's family and team confirmed that the entertainment personality-whose real name is Mario Lavandeira-is receiving medical care and asked the public to respect the family's privacy as they focus on his recovery.
"Our family's focus right now is on his well-being," the statement read, while expressing gratitude for the prayers, concern, and encouragement that have poured in since news of the incident broke.
Authorities were reportedly called to Hilton's Miami-Dade home Tuesday evening after viewers watching one of his TikTok livestreams became alarmed and contacted emergency services. According to multiple reports, deputies responded to what officials described as a mental health crisis before Hilton was transported to a local hospital.
His talent agency, Golden Artists Entertainment, initially revealed it had been unable to make direct contact with the longtime blogger following the incident. In a subsequent update, the agency said its priority remains Hilton's health, recovery, and protecting the privacy of both him and his family.
The latest health crisis comes just months after Hilton revealed he nearly died from sepsis following a perforated ulcer that required emergency surgery and a lengthy hospital stay.
Sharing his testimony earlier this year, Hilton described the ordeal as life-changing, saying he experienced what he believed was a miraculous encounter with God while recovering.
"God presented himself to me and then did something. Something I can only call miraculous," he said at the time.
The celebrity blogger also revealed the experience led him to begin reading the Bible regularly and taking his children to church, adding that it prompted deep reflection on his decades-long career in celebrity gossip.
Hilton acknowledged he regretted many aspects of his earlier work, including the cruel nicknames he gave celebrities and the hurt he caused over the years.
"I never needed to be so mean or cruel," he previously admitted, echoing sentiments he also shared in his memoir.
Once one of the internet's most controversial gossip personalities, Hilton became famous in the 2000s for his often provocative celebrity coverage before gradually rebranding himself in recent years with a more reflective tone.
As news of his hospitalization spread, countless fans, fellow creators, and public figures flooded social media with prayers and messages of hope, expressing their desire to see Hilton make a full recovery.
His family has indicated that additional updates will be shared when appropriate.
