Lindsey Buckingham Hints at Potential Collaboration With Rising Star Sombr After Viral Awards Show Moment

Lindsey Buckingham had more than one headline-making moment at Variety's Power of Young Hollywood event on Thursday - and this one belonged to a rising star half his age.

The Fleetwood Mac guitarist presented breakout artist Sombr with the night's Songwriter of the Year award, and the 20-year-old responded by bowing to him on stage. Fans quickly picked up on the exchange, with one writing online that it felt like "passing the torch from one legend to the next," praising Sombr for showing "genuine gratitude and reverence."

Buckingham later addressed the moment directly, revealing the two have already discussed working together. "He reached out to me a few months back and just wanted me to know I'd been a big influence on him. And he did mention something about getting together to do something," Buckingham said. Asked what a collaboration might look like, he kept it open-ended: "I don't know what form that will take, or if it will take at all. So we will just have to wait and see."

The mutual respect isn't new. Buckingham had already sung Sombr's praises publicly earlier this year, calling him "extremely talented, especially for being 20 years old." Sombr, known for viral hits like "back to friends" and "undressed," has become one of pop's fastest-rising new voices.

The moment came the same day Buckingham also opened up about his upcoming solo album and his renewed relationship with former Fleetwood Mac bandmate Stevie Nicks - making it a big night all around for one of rock's most enduring songwriters.
