Hilary Duff's Madison Square Garden debut came with an unexpected detour: a trip to the emergency room with her 5-year-old daughter just hours before showtime.
Speaking to the crowd during her August 5 concert, Duff told fans, "My kids are here tonight. I can't believe I get to show them this. We were in the ER this morning getting some stitches for my 5-year-old." Duff shares daughter Mae, along with Banks, 7, and Townes, 2, with husband Matthew Koma, and son Luca, 14, from a previous marriage.
Duff quickly reassured the audience that Mae was doing well. "She's fine, it's all good," she said, "but it's very 'our family-coded' that I'd be playing my first night at MSG and also be in the emergency room getting my kid stitched up." She closed with a message for her daughter directly: "Mae Mae, you're very brave."
Despite the rocky start, Duff went on to perform for a sold-out crowd, later expressing gratitude that all four of her children were there to see it. She returned for a second sold-out MSG show the following night, August 6, continuing her Lucky Me Tour, which runs through early 2027.
