Tauren Wells is giving fans a fresh look at one of his most personal songs.
The GRAMMY-nominated artist released a live version of "Making Room," featuring worship duo Paul and Hannah McClure, recorded live from Austin City Limits Moody Theater in Austin, Texas. Wells announced the release on social media with characteristic energy: "Live release drop! Making Room Live featuring Paul McClure and Hannah McClure is OUT NOW!!!"
The track is one of 14 songs pulled from a sold-out live set that became Wells' first-ever live album, "Here Comes the Church," featuring guest vocalists including Israel Houghton, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Naomi Raine, and Hulvey. Wells described the project as an effort to reflect "the tapestry of the church as a whole," explaining, "Of course, we can't cover it all, but the record is an expression of my goal to draw everyone out of the little worlds that we separately exist in and into a place of unity."
"Making Room" was inspired by Wells' own journey as Lead Pastor of Church of Whitestone in Austin, Texas, a church he founded alongside his wife, Lorna. "We don't need to have all the answers or be perfect," Wells has said of the song. "We just need to be open and available for what He wants to do in our lives."
Paul and Hannah McClure, longtime worship leaders and songwriters at Bethel Church in Redding, California, bring their own voice to the live rendition, adding new depth to a song already built around surrender and space-making for God.
With "Here Comes the Church" continuing to roll out one live cut at a time, "Making Room" offers another glimpse into a night Wells has called a true reflection of the wider church coming together in worship.
