The celebrity gossip blogger remains hospitalized in Florida following last week's disturbing livestream incident, and his family has now revealed that he suffered "significant blood loss" and will require surgery in the coming days.
In an official update posted on Hilton's website, his family said his condition remains "serious but stable" and cautioned that his road back will not be a quick one.
"He experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days," the family said, adding that his "treatment and recovery will be a long process."
The latest statement comes after Hilton was hospitalized following a troubling August 4 livestream in which he appeared to harm himself. Authorities responded to his Florida home after viewers raised concerns, and Hilton was subsequently hospitalized under Florida's Baker Act.
Since then, information about the 48-year-old blogger's condition has been tightly controlled by his family.
According to his loved ones, Hilton's communication has been "extremely limited" and confined to immediate family members, medical professionals and those directly involved in his care. His family has also stressed that statements appearing on his website are the only authorized updates about his condition.
There was, however, one encouraging development amid the frightening situation: Hilton was able to spend time with his mother and sister on Friday.
"We are grateful that Perez was able to spend time with his mother and sister yesterday," the family shared.

The family specifically pleaded with photographers not to gather around the home or photograph the children during what they described as an already difficult and traumatic period.
