Morgan Wallen has done something no artist has managed twice in the history of Billboard's Country Airplay chart: replace himself at No. 1.
"I Can't Love You Anymore," his duet with Ella Langley, climbed to the top of the ranking this week, pushing his own solo single "Don't We" down to No. 3. It marks the third time in the chart's history an artist has immediately followed one No. 1 with another - and Wallen is now the first to pull off the feat twice. His only precedent came in 2024, when "I Had Some Help" with Post Malone gave way to "Cowgirls" with Ernest.
The milestone gives Wallen his 22nd career No. 1 on Country Airplay, moving him past Keith Urban and Thomas Rhett into sole possession of eighth place on the all-time leaders list. Langley, meanwhile, continues a breakout year that already includes her own solo hit "Choosin' Texas."
For an artist raised the son of a Southern Baptist pastor in Sneedville, Tennessee, who grew up singing in his father's church before chart records ever entered the picture, Wallen has never shied from letting that upbringing surface in his music - from Bible references tucked into his lyrics to songs like "Don't Think Jesus" built directly around his faith. Whatever else changes as his career keeps setting new records, that thread has stayed constant.
