An 18-year-old battling Ewing sarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer, recently had a dream come true - a wish granted by the Nikolas Ritschel Foundation to see singer-songwriter Noah Kahan perform live, according to WEEK/25 News Now in Peoria, Illinois.

The wish comes courtesy of the Nikolas Ritschel Foundation, also known as "Nik's Wish," a nonprofit founded in memory of Nikolas Ritschel, who died from Synovial Sarcoma in 2012 at age 18. Before his passing, Ritschel asked his mother to start an organization that could grant wishes to young adults ages 18 to 24 - patients who often fall through the cracks of programs like Make-A-Wish, which typically serve those 17 and under. The foundation's mission is to give patients a joyful escape from treatment, and describes its wishes as a way to strengthen "faith & hope" during some of the hardest seasons of a patient's life.

For this teen, that meant a night away from hospital visits and treatment plans - instead spent watching Kahan perform hits like "Stick Season" and "No Complaints" as part of his sweeping Great Divide Tour, which has been packing stadiums and arenas across North America this summer.

Even in the middle of a cancer fight, moments of joy, music, and community can still carry real weight - a small but powerful picture of hope holding on in a hard season.

The Nikolas Ritschel Foundation continues to accept wish applications and donations for young adults fighting cancer nationwide.
