King Charles's Reunion With Archie and Lilibet May Have Been the Turning Point Behind Harry and Meghan's UK Move

New reporting suggests the moment that finally brought Prince Harry and Meghan Markle back to Britain wasn't a single decision made in California - it may have happened weeks earlier, at a private family gathering most of the public never saw.

It would now seem the catch-up with King Charles and Queen Camilla last month might have been pivotal in the couple's decision to head back across the Atlantic, with the meeting at Highgrove, the monarch's private country residence in Gloucestershire, marking the first time the 77-year-old monarch had been reunited with his grandchildren in four years. JubileeCast reported on that reunion in July, when palace officials confirmed the private family occasion answered a question readers had followed for days: whether the King would get the chance to see Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, during the family's UK trip.

King Charles was reportedly first made aware of the couple's relocation plans just this past Sunday - meaning the decision wasn't discussed during the family's visit to the UK in July, even as the King made clear he welcomes the opportunity to see more of the Sussex family in a private and personal capacity. Charles has also made clear there will be no change to Harry and Meghan's role as private, non-working members of the royal family.

With the British school year starting in early September, the family reportedly wants to get settled with the children as soon as possible.

For a family that spent years estranged, the timeline tells a quieter story than the headlines suggest: a grandfather's reunion with two grandchildren he'd waited four years to see again, followed weeks later by a decision to come home.
