B2K singer Raz B and his wife, Mona Li, are facing an unimaginable tragedy after the sudden death of their three-month-old son, Astro Monte Thornton.
Sources close to the family said Astro died earlier this week. His passing was described as "unexpected and sudden," and no cause of death has been disclosed.
"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Astro Monte Thornton, beloved son of Mona and De'Mario 'Raz B' Thornton of the R&B supergroup B2K," a family spokesperson said.
"The family asks for privacy as they navigate this difficult time. They truly appreciate your love and support."
The devastating news comes only months after Raz B excitedly announced Astro's arrival. On May 18, the singer shared that the couple was at the hospital preparing to welcome "another baby boy to the Thornton family."
Raz B and Mona also share an older son, Versai Carter Thornton, while Mona has a daughter from a previous relationship.
The loss arrives during a renewed season of activity for B2K. The group's three UK performances in December are reportedly still scheduled to proceed, although no announcement has been made about Raz B's participation.
For now, however, music and touring understandably take a distant second place as the Thornton family grieves a life lost far too soon. Fans and friends have been asked to respect their privacy while surrounding them with prayer, compassion, and support.
