Drake has officially put his own spin on the biggest country song in America.
The rapper debuted a surprise remix of Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" on September 15 during his Fear of Missing Out livestream, reworking the smash hit into a slowed-down, R&B-flavored version featuring Houston rapper Don Toliver. It's a striking crossover moment for a song that's already rewriting Billboard history.
"Choosin' Texas" just logged its 22nd week atop the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, tying Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" for the longest-running No. 1 hit ever charted in the U.S. - and the longest non-holiday reign in the chart's history. One more week at the top would give Langley the record outright.
Drake's connection to the song had been building for months. He went viral in July after blasting the track while DJing at a Houston nightclub, then was spotted singing along at Langley's August concert in Little Rock, Arkansas. He later commented "Goated Pen" on one of her Instagram posts, sending fans into speculation mode about a possible collaboration. The remix hasn't been released on streaming platforms yet, and no official date has been announced.
Langley, 27, released "Choosin' Texas" as part of her sophomore album Dandelion, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in April. She's also become the first female artist to simultaneously top the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts at once.
With Drake's remix now in the mix, Langley's record-breaking run shows no signs of slowing down.
