Award-winning Christian artist and songwriter Matthew West has released his new single, "Younger Me," a deeply personal song that looks back on the experiences that shaped his life and faith.
Released September 18, the solo-written track serves as the final preview of West's upcoming studio album, Jesus Is King, which is scheduled for release on September 25.
In "Younger Me," West reflects on several significant chapters of his journey, including discovering his faith as a teenager, experiencing rejection while pursuing music in Nashville, meeting his wife and building a family. Through each memory, the song points back to the faithfulness of God.
The message encourages listeners to look at their own stories through the lens of God's presence, trusting Him through both the uncertain seasons and the moments of blessing. At the heart of the song is the realization that Jesus was sufficient throughout every chapter, even when that truth was not always easy to recognize at the time.
That theme continues throughout Jesus Is King, a 12-song project built around the declaration "Jesus Is ____." Each song explores another aspect of Christ's character and work, including His faithfulness, goodness, strength, redemption and grace, ultimately returning to the album's central proclamation that Jesus is King.
West's new single arrives during another significant season in his career. Earlier this year, he celebrated his 39th No. 1 song with "Good," adding another milestone to a career spanning nearly three decades.
With more than 375 songwriting credits, multiple ASCAP honors and two NSAI Songwriter-Artist of the Year awards, West has become known for songs that combine personal storytelling with messages of faith and hope.
West is also currently on the 17-stop Jesus Is King Tour, bringing his new music to audiences across the country through October 4.
His latest book, Don't Stop Praying: The God Who Hears Is Just a Breath Away, is also available now, offering readers a personal and Bible-based exploration of prayer.
"Younger Me" is available now on digital and streaming platforms, while Jesus Is King arrives September 25.
