Whitney Capps' family has announced arrangements to honor the Christian author and Bible teacher following her death at 48. Visitation and funeral gatherings will take place Friday, October 9, and Saturday, October 10, in Georgia, giving family, friends and those touched by her ministry an opportunity to remember her life. Her obituary confirms that she died October 2 in Social Circle, Georgia.

"We will celebrate and honor Whitney's life this Friday and Saturday," reads the announcement shared on her Instagram account. The post directs followers to her obituary through Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home and tags her husband, Chad Capps.

The announcement follows Chad's earlier message confirming his wife's death after her cancer battle. "My beautiful Whitney is home with Jesus," he wrote, describing her final moments as peaceful while acknowledging the family's profound grief.

Friday's visitation will be held October 9 from 6-8 p.m. at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, Georgia. A second visitation will begin Saturday, October 10, at 12:30 p.m. at Prince Avenue Baptist Church, 3691 Monroe Highway, Bogart, Georgia.

The funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Hill Haven Memorial Gardens, 490 Edmondson Road, Monroe, Georgia. Those planning to attend can consult the family's obituary and service announcement for updates.

Capps became known through her work as a national speaker for Proverbs 31 Ministries, Women of Joy and Lifeway Women, as well as her contributions to the First 5 Bible app. Her ministry focused on helping women understand Scripture and connect its teaching with everyday decisions, relationships and struggles.

Her books and studies included Sick of Me, We Over Me and The Melody of Grace. In Sick of Me, she encouraged readers to move beyond acknowledging their struggles toward spiritual growth, presenting honesty as a beginning rather than the end of Christian transformation.

She also cofounded Simple Seminary, an online learning platform for women studying theology, and TruthCo. In 2024, she and TruthCo cofounder Russ Greer launched the podcast Theology and Other Fun Stuff, extending her teaching into conversations that combined theological substance with an approachable style.

Behind that public ministry was her family life with Chad and their four sons, Cooper, Dylan, Ryder and Tate. Her ministry biography described a lively household outside Atlanta, offering readers a glimpse of the mother and wife behind the conference platform.

Capps continued writing candidly about faith during her illness. In a September 4 devotional, she recalled being diagnosed with cancer in August 2021 and admitted that, five years later, the words remained difficult to say and accept. The devotional identified her illness as stage 4 small bowel cancer.

Her reflection resisted easy answers about suffering. Instead, she directed readers toward God's presence amid grief, uncertainty and unanswered questions, writing, "We are never alone. We have grace for whatever today holds."

As her family prepares for Friday and Saturday's gatherings, those words offer a poignant reminder of the message she continued sharing through her illness. The farewell will honor both her public work as a Bible teacher and the personal relationships at the center of her life.
