George Clooney has publicly addressed the death of Presley Gerber for the first time, describing the loss as devastating for his family.

The actor, 65, spoke with Entertainment Tonight on Friday, Oct. 9, while attending The Albies 2026 in London with his wife, Amal Clooney. He indicated the loss remains too painful to discuss in detail, calling it "one of the most devastating things" to happen to both families.

Presley, 27, was the son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber and the older brother of Kaia Gerber. He died Sept. 20 at a treatment facility in Santa Monica, and his official cause of death remained deferred pending further investigation, according to reporting published Oct. 9. The family previously asked for privacy.

Clooney and Rande Gerber have been close friends for decades and launched Casamigos tequila together. In the days after Presley's death, the Clooneys were seen arriving at Kaia Gerber's home in Los Angeles. A source also told PEOPLE that the couple were reportedly taking turns spending time with the family so they would not be alone.
