Patrick Clancy ran in the Chicago Marathon on Sunday, weeks after the murder trial of his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, ended in a mistrial, according to NewsNation. A spokesperson confirmed his participation.
The jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict after seven days of deliberations. Lindsay Clancy was charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of the couple's three children: Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months. Her defense argued she was suffering from postpartum psychosis. The race came less than two weeks after a Plymouth Superior Court judge refused to grant her defense a court-ordered acquittal, NBC 5 Chicago reported.
Clancy has spoken openly about forgiveness. In his first interview since the mistrial, aired on "60 Minutes" on Sept. 20, he said Lindsay never asked for his forgiveness, but he gave it anyway. He also said he felt he would be consumed with anger if he did not forgive her. For many believers, that choice echoes a theme at the heart of the Christian faith.
Clancy has since remarried and said he met his wife while running in New York's Central Park. TMZ photographed him and his wife, Rachel Danis, in Chicago on Saturday and reported that she is pregnant. The outlet also reported that he has said he wants to tell his future children about their late siblings.
He has also said he wants the focus kept on the memory of Cora, Dawson and Callan.
