The family of Southern Nazarene safety Tyler Ulrich is sharing how they are coping, with his father writing that "the Lord called Tyler this morning" at 11:13 a.m. on Oct. 15.

Ulrich, 21, died five days after suffering a traumatic injury in a game at Ouachita Baptist on Oct. 10. In a Facebook post, his father, Mark Ulrich, thanked supporters for their prayers and said his son lived a life marked by faith and a passion for football. His sister, Kaylee Parrish, also posted a tribute, saying she never imagined having to say goodbye to her big brother.

Southern Nazarene University has not announced the nature of the injury or an official cause of death. The school canceled its Oct. 17 game at Southwestern Oklahoma State, held a campuswide prayer chapel, and says counseling and campus pastors are available to students and staff.

In Ulrich's hometown of Azle, Texas, his former high school coach Jason Vines told KOCO, "When I think of good, I think of Tyler Ulrich," CBS Sports reported.

CBS Sports also reported that a GoFundMe has been created for the family. Readers who want to give should confirm any fundraiser through the family or the university first.

PennLive reports Ulrich is the second college football player to die this season from a game-related incident. Head coach Dustin Hada remembered Ulrich as a "Man of God," and SNU leaders asked the community to keep his family in prayer.
