Jay-Z has reportedly picked himself to headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show, according to Puck, and the NFL has not confirmed the booking. iol

Puck, citing multiple sources, reports that the Roc Nation founder holds final approval on halftime bookings and chose his own name after Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber were also considered. The game is set for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Is Jay-Z doing the Super Bowl? Not officially yet. Puck reports he could reveal the news as early as this weekend, when he plays the first of two nearly sold-out nights at SoFi Stadium.

Why does Jay-Z pick the performer? Roc Nation has helped shape the halftime show since 2019, when NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell brought Jay-Z and the company on board. In a 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jay-Z said choosing himself too early would have felt selfish, and suggested a future year might be the right time.

The timing also lines up with his catalog milestones. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint.

Jay-Z had climbed to the top of prediction-market odds for the 2027 slot. This report goes further than betting numbers, but it is still a report and not an announcement.
