New details have emerged about the death of Leanne Gregory, the 36-year-old British mother who died trying to save her two sons while snorkelling in the Bahamas.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force said in a preliminary report that foul play is not suspected, and that an autopsy will be conducted to help determine the exact cause of death. Police said Leanne was snorkelling with her husband and sons near the southern point of Bimini when a strong current swept both boys away. She was also swept away trying to rescue them, and was later taken to the ferry dock, where CPR was administered.
In a GoFundMe post, Nathan Gregory said Leanne held their son until help arrived but had no strength left to save herself after a freak wave swept the boat away from her. He wrote that the couple had been childhood sweethearts for 22 years.
Nathan also thanked the people who helped. He praised the passengers on a boat who saw him flag them down and pulled the boys to safety, and a woman who helped him try to revive Leanne. He wrote that he was grateful for "the hero she was in life and in death."
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said it is in contact with local authorities and supporting the family.
JubileeCast continues to keep Nathan, the couple's two sons, and all who loved Leanne in prayer.
