Matthew Perry’s Sister Reveals How the “Friends” Cast Said Goodbye at His Funeral

Matthew Perry's sister has revealed how the Friends cast said goodbye at his funeral, nearly three years after his death.

Mia Perry Bowick shares the memory in Netflix's three-part docuseries The One About Matthew Perry, which premiered Oct 27, the eve of the third anniversary of his death at age 54.

According to Bowick, the private service was small, with only family and close friends. Then Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc arrived together. She said she had not seen them in about 20 years, and that Aniston was the first to come over and hug her.

She said all five went to the casket "holding hands and stood around him, crying," a moment outlets have described as wrenching.

Bowick, a psychotherapist, author, and speaker, also told the series she felt her brother's presence during the funeral, according to The Daily Beast.

The Friends stars did not take part in the docuseries. Director Mary Robertson told Page Six she understands their decision and knows they "love Matthew and grieve Matthew." The series is told mainly through Bowick and Perry's close friends.

The story lands as viewers revisit how Perry hoped to be remembered. As JubileeCast reported, Hank Azaria wrote that Perry wanted to be remembered for helping others get sober.

JubileeCast keeps Perry's family and friends in prayer, and everyone who is grieving a loved one.
