John Stamos and the California Sound will take over The Beach Boys' EPCOT dates on Nov. 11 and 12 as Mike Love focuses on his recovery. The band's appearance at Walt Disney World's Eat to the Beat concert series has been canceled, and Stamos has said his longtime friend and mentor is facing "serious health challenges."
The shows are at the America Gardens Theatre in EPCOT's American Adventure pavilion. They are included with regular park admission, so no extra ticket is needed. Disney announced the change but did not give a reason.
In an Instagram post, he said Love's doctors, family and friends have urged him to put his health first, but Love wants to keep performing. Love returned to the stage earlier this month at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. Stamos said at the time, "We don't know what tomorrow brings. But we have tonight." Love has also told The New York Times that he is putting his full energy into rehab.
The Beach Boys are still scheduled for Nov. 13 in Virginia and May 8, 2027 in Canada.
Stamos, 63, has joined the group on stage since 1985 and has called Love, 85, a father figure.
The cancellation comes in the 60th-anniversary year of Pet Sounds, the 1966 album that includes "God Only Knows."
For many readers, this may be a moment to keep Love and his family in prayer.
