Angel Studios has announced a new set of standards called "The Angel Promise," a pledge covering every future film and series it makes. It rules out nudity and sex on screen, bars the misuse of God's name in its original productions, and gives its roughly 3 million paying Angel Guild members the final say on what gets made.
The promise has three parts.
- The Guild decides: a project must score at least 70 out of 100 from Guild members to be included.
- Three firm standards: no nudity or sex on screen, no misuse of God's name in Angel originals, and no F-word. Titles aimed at children 12 and under also can't include profanity.
- Parental controls: member-voted age ratings, plain-language story notes, and new app controls so each family can choose what plays at home.
Co-founder and Chief Content Officer Jeff Harmon told Fox News Digital that Hollywood has drifted away from values-based viewers. He said a PG-13 rating "isn't precise enough for families seeking values-based entertainment." He added that the founders, four brothers and a cousin, have 34 children among them.
Where Angel stands today: the Guild has grown from about 1.5 million members a year ago to more than 3 million. Angel says it has paid nearly $300 million to filmmakers, and Harmon said more than 100 films were open for member votes. Recent releases include David and The King of Kings.
For families of faith, the promise puts clear, written limits in place for the titles Angel produces itself.
