Scott Clifton’s Emotional Emmy Speech Reveals the Gratitude Behind a ‘Really Hard Year’

Scott Clifton's latest Emmy victory brought a deeply personal admission: behind the professional triumph was a difficult year-and someone whose support had helped him through it.

Accepting the lead-actor honour for The Bold and the Beautiful at the 2026 Daytime Emmys on October 30, Clifton became emotional as he thanked his girlfriend, Elle Anderson.

"It was a really hard year, and you made me invincible," he said, describing her as his "existential oxygen tank." He also shared an affectionate moment with his 10-year-old son, Ford, thanking him for taking pride in his career.

The award marked Clifton's second lead-actor victory, following his 2017 win. His earlier successes in the younger-actor and supporting-actor categories had already made him the first male performer to win across all three classifications. Friday's recognition added another chapter to that achievement.

His fourth Daytime Emmy overall followed a demanding storyline for Liam Spencer. The character believed he had an inoperable brain tumour before discovering that the diagnosis was part of a scheme to extract $1 million from his father-a dramatic turn that required Clifton to portray fear, vulnerability and betrayal.

Onstage, Clifton placed gratitude at the centre of his own story. The trophy recognised his performance; his speech gave the people who supported him their moment in the spotlight.
