Aaron Williams Reimagines Worship Hit “Abide” as a Christmas Song with Hope Darst

Integrity Music artist and worship leader Aaron Williams has released a special Christmas version of his popular worship song "Abide," featuring acclaimed worship singer Hope Darst. The new recording offers a fresh perspective on the beloved worship anthem, connecting its message of remaining in Christ with the wonder of His birth.

Available now, "Abide (Christmas)" brings the familiar song into the heart of the Christmas season, encouraging listeners to reflect on Jesus' arrival and the beauty of His presence.

Originally released as a declaration of dependence on God, "Abide" has grown into one of Williams' defining songs, accumulating nearly 50 million streams across its various versions. The track currently ranks No. 35 on CCLI and No. 12 on SongSelect, reflecting its continued impact in churches and worship communities worldwide.

Over the years, Williams has released additional interpretations of the song with artists and groups including CAIN, Jon Reddick, and The Worship Initiative. This latest Christmas edition adds another meaningful chapter to the song's journey.

The release features two recordings: a collaborative version with Hope Darst and an intimate acoustic rendition performed by Williams. Both offer a renewed expression of the song's central message, drawing a connection between abiding in Christ and the hope celebrated throughout Advent.

Williams expressed his gratitude for Darst's contribution, highlighting how her voice and presence helped bring out the beauty and wonder they hoped to capture. As he spent time reflecting on the Advent story, new lyrics and phrases emerged, giving the song a fresh perspective. He hopes the recording will encourage listeners to worship Jesus and consider the depth of His story throughout the Christmas season.

For Williams, "Abide" has become more than just another release. Its lasting connection with listeners has made it a particularly meaningful song in his ministry, one he considers a potential career-defining anthem. This Christmas interpretation gives congregations and individual listeners another opportunity to experience its message during a season centered on the arrival of Christ.
