Seven-time GRAMMY® Award-winning artist TobyMac has launched a new chapter in his music career with the release of "The Hard Times," a new single that encourages listeners to find hope, strength, and a deeper relationship with God through life's most difficult seasons.
Released October 30, 2026, the song follows his chart-topping 2025 album, Heaven On My Mind. Written by TobyMac, Dave Lubben, and Micah Kuiper, and produced by Kuiper and TobyMac, the track acknowledges the challenges people face while pointing toward the spiritual growth and renewed faith that can emerge through hardship.
"For most of us, it takes the hard times in life to turn our hearts to God," TobyMac shares about the song's inspiration. "They seem to be an invitation to sit at His feet. And it's there, under His care that we can begin to grow into something beautiful."
Known for drawing from personal experiences in his songwriting, TobyMac uses "The Hard Times" to offer an honest perspective on life's struggles. Rather than celebrating suffering itself, the song reflects on how difficult experiences can shape character, strengthen faith, and draw people closer to God.
The release arrives as TobyMac continues to build on an impressive musical legacy, with more than five billion global career streams, eight million social media followers, and eight consecutive No. 1 radio singles since 2022.
His previous album, Heaven On My Mind, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart and generated more than 5.1 million global streams during its first week. The project produced several successful singles, including "Nothin' Sweeter," which spent nine consecutive weeks at No. 1, "a lil Church (nobody's too lost)," and the album's title track, which topped both Billboard and Mediabase AC charts.
On June 26, 2026, TobyMac expanded the project with Heaven On My Mind - Guest List Edition, featuring collaborations with Forrest Frank, Jamie MacDonald, Jon Reddick, CeCe Winans, Third Day, gio., Terrian, and Juan Winans. Among the highlights are "Heaven On My Mind" with Forrest Frank, "God Did It" with Jamie MacDonald, and "Oh My Soul (Psalm 103)" with CeCe Winans.
Beyond the new release, TobyMac is currently touring alongside Third Day and Chris Tomlin. He will also launch HITS DEEP 2027 on January 28, 2027, featuring Jeremy Camp and Seph Schlueter.
