Samsung Galaxy Alpha Release Date, Features and Specs

Korean mobile phone Samsung has set the release of their highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Alpha for September 12th, which will be a few days after the release of Apple's new iPhone 6.   Those who have been waiting for the release of this handset can have it pre-ordered starting August 28th.

The release of Galaxy Alpha will be Samsung's first attempt to bring high end materials to the mid-market, with the introduction of a metal frame in its external design.  The design is a deviation from their long-standing practice of releasing handsets with plastic bodies accentuated with metal-like colors.  Based on recent image leaks the Alpha will incorporate aluminum along its trim which resembles that of the iPhone.

The Alpha is slated to be powered by an Octa-core processor based on Samsung's latest Exynos chipset, and will be complimented with 2 GB of RAM. It will have a 32 GB of onboard storage, though Samsung has decided not to include expandable storage options for this release.

It will have a Super Amole display with a screen size of 4.7" diagonal, which is more manageable in terms of one hand use compared to the Note 3.  The handset will also use a Mali-T628MP6 graphics chipset.  Following on recent high-end releases by the mobile phone giant the Alpha will sport a 12MP rear camera, and a 2.1MP front-facing camera.

Also features which one can normally find only on Samsung's premium handsets are included, such as a fingerprint scanner, a heart-rate monitor, motion and gesture control and Air View.
